PORTLAND (AP) – Yusmeiro Petit struck out 12 batters and allowed only three hits over eight scoreless innings as Binghamton beat Portland 4-0 on Wednesday in the Eastern League.

Petit (9-3) helped snap Binghamton’s six-game losing streak a day after the Mets dropped a doubleheader to the Sea Dogs.

Binghamton (53-71) took a two-run lead in the second inning that was keyed by Brad Harper’s RBI single. Mike Jacobs and Jerry Caligiuri added RBI singles in the sixth and seven innings for the final margin.

The loss snapped a six-game wining streak for Portland (68-57) but the Sea Dogs retained the top spot in the Eastern League’s Northern Division. Anibal Sanchez (8-4) took the loss for Portland.
