DENVER (AP) – Chris Capuano allowed six hits over seven innings and drove in both runs to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.

Capuano (13-8), Dana Eveland, Jose Capellan and Derrick Turnbow combined for the 29th shutout in the 11 years Coors Field has been open.

Turnbow pitched the ninth for his 26th save.

Capuano had given up nine runs in losing his two previous starts. He matched a season high with eight strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter in winning for the first time since July 31.

Jamey Wright (6-14) gave up two runs and three hits in seven innings and dropped to 0-3 in his last three starts. Colorado has lost six of seven games overall.

Capuano drove in both runs with a two-out single to right in the second. Carlos Lee doubled and Geoff Jenkins walked to open the inning and both moved up on a wild pitch as Russell Branyan struck out. After another out, Chad Moeller was intentionally walked to load the bases and Capuano slapped an 0-1 pitch past first baseman Todd Helton into right field to make it 2-0.

Capuano worked out of trouble in the fourth when Helton and Matt Holliday singled with one out. He retired Garrett Atkins on a groundout and struck out Dustan Mohr to end the threat.

Atkins led off the seventh with a single and Todd Greene singled off the wall in left with one out. Third base coach Mike Gallego sent Atkins to the plate with Milwaukee second baseman Bill Hall holding the ball. Hall threw to third baseman Branyan, who retired Atkins in a rundown.

Notes: Milwaukee sent 3B Jeff Cirillo on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville. … Capuano has six hits and seven RBIs this season. … The Brewers won the season series 5-1. … Cleveland claimed RHP Jason Young, Colorado’s second-round selection in the 2000 June draft, on outright waivers.
