BETHEL – Western Mountains Senior College will offer an introductory meeting for anyone interested in learning more about forming a new Senior Players readers theater group. It will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Garland Chapel, West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street.

Lynn Arizzi will coordinate the group and invites anyone interested to attend. Mel Howards, leader of the Senior Players in Portland, will attend to offer assistance.

Members of the Portland Senior Players performed at the college’s annual meeting last fall and inspired the senior college to pursue a group in Bethel. The idea behind the group is to have fun, exercise the “ham in all of us,” and explore how truths can be told through drama and comedy, all without having to memorize lines.

Almost any material can become a “reading performance,” such as poetry, excerpts from books and plays or memories. Anyone attending the first meeting may bring favorites for discussion.

For questions or suggestions, contact Arizzi at 824-0080 or e-mail mario2@adelphia.net.
