LEWISTON – The Thomas E. Lahey Foundation has announced its scholarship recipients for 2006-2007.

This year recipients are:

Mathew Cyr, a graduate of Lewiston High School, who is attending Bryant University. He is the son or Thomas and Nancy Cyr of Lewiston.

Mallory Long, a graduate or Lewiston High School, is attending the University of New England. She is the daughter of Joseph and Nancy Long of Lewiston.

Katelyn Perkins, a graduate of Edward Little High School, is attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She is the daughter of Greg and Lori Perkins of Auburn.

Derek Doucette, a graduate of Edward Little High School, is attending the University of Southern Maine. He is the son of Wallace and Kathy Doucette of Auburn.

Malley O’Shea is a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School. She is attending Susquehanna University. She is the daughter of Daniel O’Shea of Turner and Agnes O’Shea of Livermore Falls.

Maria Saucier, a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School, is attending the University of Maine. She is the daughter of Clayton Saucier of Lewiston and Annette Bosse of Lewiston.

The Thomas E. Lahey Foundation was established to honor Tom Lahey, an outstanding Lewiston athlete and successful businessman, who died Oct. 3, 1987, at the age of 43.

The purpose of the foundation is to assist local youth in the pursuit of excellence in academic, athletic and cultural activities.

Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $275,000 and awarded nearly $127,000 in scholarships.

Fundraisers scheduled for 2007 include a bowling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 27, and a golf tournament, date to be announced.
