Marine meeting

AUBURN – The Central Maine Detachment, Marine Corps League, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the New Auburn American Legion Post Home, 71 South Main St. (side door, Cook Street).

All members are asked to attend. Agenda items will include a department meeting on Sunday, Feb. 25, in Camden. A good showing from the Central Maine Detachment is requested. Discussion will include military training for veterans’ funerals. The detachment will sponsor the National Marine Band from Washington, D.C., in October in the Portland area.

The detachment has been active in community projects and is asking more former Marines, Navy Corps men and active Marines to join. For more information, call Commandant Raymond Lemieux at 784-0656. A light snack will follow the meeting.

VFW agenda

LEWISTON – Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Lewiston Lodge of Elks, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are invited.

OES degrees

AUBURN – A special meeting of Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

Officers will confer the degrees of the order. All Eastern Star members are invited to welcome the new member. Refreshments will be served in the dining hall after the meeting.

Dog classes

AUBURN – Great Falls Dog Obedience Club is starting another six-week dog obedience class on Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Auburn. Beginners class will be held at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30.
