Kiwanis speaker

LEWISTON – Steve Doak from Andover College will be the featured speaker at the Auburn Lewiston Kiwanis Club weekly luncheon at noon Wednesday, March 14, at the Ramada Inn.

Andover College offers associate of applied science degrees and certificates in a wide range of professions. The school’s mission is to provide education and training through a positive learning experience, empowering students to achieve their professional goals.

Floral demo

AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union Garden Club will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. Roland Morissette will demonstrate how to turn supermarket flowers and household containers into unusual arrangements.

Members are asked to bring gardening magazine they are finished with to swap with other members. Marilyn Wilkinson is in charge of hospitality, and refreshments will be served. Guests are welcome.

Society speaker

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Old Schoolhouse, Route 26, next to the Poland Town Office. The speaker will be Charles Anthony of Durham, a Revolutionary War re-enactor, and a tailor who specializes in creating the clothing of that era. He will speak on the fashions and styles of the Revolutionary War period and will show examples of clothing from the period. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served after the talk.

Rotundo to speak

AUBURN – The Holy Cross Seniors will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in the church hall when the speaker will be Sen. Peggy Rotundo of Lewiston. She will discuss state programs for senior citizens and their families.

Rotundo, who has represented Lewiston in the State Senate for the last six years, serves as the chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee. She has also served as chairwoman of the State and Local Government Committee as well as the Education Committee.

All seniors and friends are invited. A social will follow the presentation and a light lunch will be served.

Club visit

AUBURN – The Monday, March 19, meeting of the Auburn Art Club will be held at 2 p.m. at Thomas Mosher Cabinetmakers on Kittyhawk Drive.

Deb Caron, customer service representative for Thomas Mosher, will conduct a visual tour of the furniture-making process.

Chairwoman Evelyn Larrabee will be assisted by hostesses Jill Jones and Maureen Tibbits.

Seniors meet

SABATTUS – Sabattus Senior Citizens met on March 1 for a meal of corned beef and cabbage, cake and beverages. The hall was decorated in a St. Patrick’s Day theme.

The meeting, attended by 95 members, was called to order by Vice President Bob Sutton. Because of illnesses, the meeting was shortened and beano was played, called by Betty Dutil.

The next meal and meeting will be Thursday, April 12, instead of April 5, because of Holy Week. The menu will be spaghetti and meat balls, salad, dessert and beverages by Doris Pelletier and crew. To sign up, call Bob at 783-6955.

Trip Coordinator Jean Doyon has a trip to Foxwood set for Tuesday, April 10, for $34 and Atlantic City on May 21 to 24 for a cost of $203. For more information, call Doyon at 784-5264.
