Music festival

LISBON – The Maine Music Educator Association District III will present the sixth-grade Honor Festival Band and Chorus and the seventh- and eighth-grade Jazz Honors Band in a music festival at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Lisbon Community School gym. Snow date will be Saturday, March 8, same time/location.

Students of the central coastal region from Freeport to Bar Harbor will participate in the festival.

Grange night

POLAND – CWA Night will be observed at Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Road, on Saturday March 1. Contestants are reminded to have their whoopie pies at the hall by 7 p.m. for judging before the meeting, which will begin at 7:30.

Chances have been sold for a homemade latchhook rug and the drawing will also be held. All members and those interested in becoming grange members are invited.

Fortier Chapter

LEWISTON – The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Association Canado-Americaine, will gather at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the Senior Citizens Room of the Multi-Purpose Center.

Following the business meeting, fiddler Hannah Rodrigue, age 15, will perform a selection of French Canadian jigs and reels while the membership has refreshments. La Survivance

LEWISTON – La Survivance Franaise will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the seniors room at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.

A “Fun Night” will be held following the reports of the president and officers. Anna Faucher will serve as hostess.

Lenten services

AUBURN – Court Street Baptist Church will hold Tuesday noon Lenten services. March 4, 11 and 18.

Each service will contains Scripture, prayer, a sermon and special music. Guest organist for all services will be Charles Marshall. The Rev. Dr. David Clark, pastor, will host each service.

Clark will give the sermon on March 4; the Rev. Chester Garrison from the Greene Baptist Church will give the sermon on March 11; and Pastor Daniel Johnston from the Litchfield Community Christian Church will give the sermon on March 18.

A home-style meal will be served in the vestry at 12:30 p.m. after each service. A donation to cover the cost of the food will be collected at the door. All are invited. For more information, call 784-6661.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 25 were: first, Marta Clements and Claire Lyons; second, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; third, Sue Kaluzynski and Mary Leahey; fourth, Alberta Turner and Luke Merry; fifth, Judy Abromsom and Rosemarie Goodwin.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games.
