AUGUSTA (AP) – The deadline is approaching for northern Maine residents and business owners to apply for disaster assistance in the recovery from spring floods.
Those seeking aid have until July 8 to file applications with the Federal Emergency Management agency.
The flooding in late April and early May caused extensive damage to homes, roads, bridges and other property.
Ginnie Ricker of the Maine Emergency Management Agency said that since President Bush’s May 9 disaster declaration, residents affected by the flooding in Aroostook and Penobscot counties have received more than $1 million in state and federal aid.
