OXFORD – The Anderson-Staples Post 112, American Legion, has announced that its Legion Riders will hold a fundraiser at the South Paris McDonald’s from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14.
The Riders are inviting the public to join them for supper at McDonald’s, which has agreed to donate a portion of the sales to the Legacy Fund.
The Riders also invite the public to purchase lights on the Maine Veterans’ Home Christmas tree in honor or memory of a veteran or a loved one to benefit the activity fund. A 50/50 raffle will be drawn at 7:15.
A bike run will leave the Oxford Post every half hour from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., going to McDonald’s. Judges will be hand to award prizes in the following categories: Oldest Bike, Furthest Traveled by Tar and Best Paint Job. For more information, contact Assistant Director Deborah Walo at 210-2756.
The Legion Riders are made up of veterans and spouses who are motorcycle enthusiasts. They primarily raise funds for the Legacy Fund scholarships that are awarded to the children of deceased veterans due to the war caused by the terror attack of 9/11. They also raise funds for the Maine Veterans’ Home activity fund in South Paris.
To become a member of the Legion Riders, bring a current American Legion membership card from a post, auxiliary or Sons of the Legion. Membership can also be obtained with a DD-214.
