AUBURN – The Auburn Art Club will hear about the “Art of Children’s Books” from Pam Riley Osborn, children’s librarian at the Auburn Public Library, at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12. The meeting will take place in the library’s community room.

A graduate of Alfred (N.Y.) University, followed with a master’s degree in library science, Osborn illustrated books for Houghton Mifflin and other Boston publishers.

She moved to Maine and has headed the children’s department in the Auburn library for 20 years. Osborn said she expects to show some of the current and popular children’s books, commenting on how the combination of words, pictures and artwork appeal to children.

The Auburn Art Club is composed of 50 Auburn women and meets bimonthly October to April. Programs highlight various art forms and their artists.

Barbara Randall heads the program committee for the Jan. 12 meeting and is assisted by Fern Desjardin, Marge Flaherty and Louise Reynolds.
