FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District will host one of 10 informational meetings being held throughout the state for forest landowners and managers interested in the forestry aspects of the 2008 farm bill.

The session will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the University of Maine at Farmington’s North Dining Hall Room A.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Maine Forest Service will provide up-to-date information on the farm bill and how owners of forest land can receive financial assistance in caring for their woods.

They will also learn what monies are available for what programs and practices.

Those who register by 4 p.m. Friday, March 20, and are present at the meeting will be placed in a drawing for the door prize.
