Pfc. Adam Danforth, former Oak Hill High School student and 2005 graduate of Montgomery High School in Texas, completed basic training and advanced infantry training, finishing first in the class of 212 soldiers.
The one station unit training consisted of light weapons, heavy weapons, advanced first aid, military tactics, fire team tactics, map reading and physical fitness. Danforth’s training took place as part of the 2/54 Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga.
Danforth was recognized with an Army achievement medal as the distinguished honor graduate of the unit. The medal recognizes Danforth’s leadership skills, dedication to training and overall work ethic during the 14-week training period.
Danforth’s parents, Kent and Audrey Danforth, and brother Taylor reside in Montgomery, Texas.
His grandparents Lynn and Cecil Danforth live in Litchfield; grandmother Cecilia Charlesworth resides in Summerfield, N.C.
Danforth is enrolled in Airborne Training at Fort Benning and on completion, he will report to Fort Bragg, N. C., for special forces training.
Raymond S. Patterson has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army after successfully completing the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program and graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Columbia State University, Ga.
The new officer will be branched to a specific corps in the Army to serve on active duty or in the National Guard or Reserve. The lieutenant will attend an officer basic course relating to his or her particular military occupational specialty/job. Afterward, the officer will complete advanced training by attending basic officer leadership courses for career progression purposes.
Patterson is the son-in-law of Monique Franck of Lewiston. He has served in the military for 18 years. The lieutenant is a 1988 graduate of the Adult Basic Learning Center, Portland.
