WHITING (AP) – Maine drug agents say they’re seeing an increase in the number of marijuana-growing operations in the state.

Darrell Crandall of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency tells the Bangor Daily News that agents have broken up four outdoor-growing operations in the past month. He says agents also have uncovered another 31 indoor-growing operations this year, with a total of 2,330 plants.

The latest arrest took place last week when agents charged a 42-year-old Lubec man with aggravated trafficking and marijuana cultivation.

Crandall said the man was arrested after agents found 50 marijuana plants growing in buckets in a wooded area of Whiting.
