LEWISTON — Candidates for most of the contested City Council and mayoral races in both Lewiston and Auburn will be on hand Wednesday night at the Franco American Heritage Center.

The Young Professionals of the Lewiston and Auburn Area and the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce are hosting a reception for voters.

It’s scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with appetizers and a chance to mingle with the candidates and meet them.

Afterwards, the candidates will get a chance to address the crowd and introduce themselves. A short question-and- answer session is scheduled as well.

As of Monday, 17 of the candidates for office in the Twin Cities have said they plan attend, according to Jenny Moulton Ziebart, communications coordinator for the chamber.

They include both candidates for Auburn Mayor — Dick Gleason and Ron Potvin — all five candidates for the at-large Auburn Council seat, all three Lewiston Ward 1 candidates, two of the four Lewiston Ward 2 candidates and Lewiston Mayoral Candidate Mark Paradis.
