Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Aug. 23 were as follows: first, Ed Lee and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; third, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; fourth, Dick Allen and Paul Sherman.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every Monday and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate games in the area.

Support group

LEWISTON — The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Maine, will sponsor a free peer support group specifically for people diagnosed with a mental illness. The ongoing group will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, in the Lepage Room at St. Mary’s Hospital.

The group is free of charge and people can start and stop at any time. The group is led by trained local volunteers who are living well with mental illness. For more information, call Bill at 784-7167 or Dave at 344-2027.

Legion meeting

LISBON FALLS — Members of the Nelson-Conley American Legion Post 66 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Slovak Hall upstairs meeting room on Avery Street. All members, prospective members and active-duty personnel are invited to attend.

Gazebo concert

TURNER — Mary Murphy, a Maine native and lifelong musical performer, will bring her variety of music genres from blues to classical, to rock and gospel, to the Turner Gazebo on the Green from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The new gazebo is located next to the Leavitt Institute Building on Route 117 in Turner Center. The site is a chemical- free, smoke-free environment. Those planning to attend should bring lawn chairs.

In case of rain, the performance will be held in the Turner Center Grange, across the street from the gazebo.

Seniors to meet

SABATTUS — Members of the Sabattus Seniors will meet for a meal at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Lewiston Mandarin restaurant. The cost for the buffet, including beverage, is $6. A meeting and bingo will follow at Maxwell Hall. Call Doris at 784-7950 to sign up.
