JAY — A Fayette truck driver escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when a loaded dump truck he was driving drifted onto a soft shoulder and tipped over in a ditch on Route 156.
Stanley Davis, 59, was traveling west and was driving up a hill, just past Soules Hill Road toward Bean’s Corner, when the rig went over onto its passenger side and spilled sand onto a stone wall, Jay police Sgt. Troy Young said.
The 1992 Peterbilt, owned by Jean Castonguay Excavation in Livermore Falls, received heavy passenger-side damage, Young said.
The driver was unhurt and was able to climb out a window, he said.
A Castonguay crew was doing some roadwork nearby and brought over a piece of heavy machinery and Power’s Auto Works, which is located nearby, brought in a front-end loader. They were able put the truck back onto its wheels, Young said.
Young was assisted at the scene by Detective Richard Caton IV, Jay firefighters and Wilton police.
