Miss Isabelle Trask of Rome, who enjoys the distinction of being the only woman to kill a silver gray fox, sold the pelt to T.J. Murphy, the Lewiston dealer in pelt and skins. The pelt, which is considered an excellent one, is of remarkable beauty and will be placed in the display window on Lisbon street. Miss Trask, who is 17 years old, is rated as one of the best shots in the vicinity of Rome. She made $500 by her quick action and sure shooting. It will take four pelts to make a neck piece, which will then be worth $2,000. She aimed at the head, knowing that the pelt would be damaged if shot thru. The larger part of the silver gray fox trade In Maine is handled thru this Lewiston store and many of the animals for breeding purpose have been bought and sold by the Murphys. This fox would have been worth much more, probably many thousands of dollars to Miss Trask, had it been taken alive.

Fire of undetermined origin swept along a wall on the fourth floor of an Auburn shoe shop this morning causing little fire loss but extensive water damage. Members of the Auburn Fire Department rushed to Air-Tred Shoe Co. at the corner of Main and Packard Streets at 4:09 when box 15, the sprinkler system alarm at the plant, sounded at Central Fire Station. A second alarm came at 4.23 a m. Water from the sprinkler system and from fire department apparatus at the scene was spilling down through the building front the fourth floor fire to the ground floor office area. The second alarm brought out the additional manpower which was necessary for the spreading of salvage covers to protect stock and equipment in the shop.

Two lanes of Main Street near the Longley Bridge will close for about five months in the summer of 1990 due to a reconstruction project on the Main Street Bridge scheduled to begin then, according to an official with the Maine Department of Transportation. A traffic study indicates about 25,000 vehicles use the Main Street route between the two cities each day. The project to replace the deck and rails of the 66-year-old bridge over the canal will include new sidewalks on both sides and a reconstruction of the corner of Main and Canal streets.
