LEWISTON — Annual National Night Out against crime by the Lewiston Police Athletic League, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Marcotte Park behind Androscoggin Bank Colisee, Jefferson Street. Meet-your-neighbor event is free. Goal is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. Activities include music, food, city vehicles for children to see, including Lewiston Police’s rolling tank and robo, plus obstacle course and bounce house.
AUBURN — Auburn Police Department’s National Night Out against crime, downtown Festival Plaza, from 5:30 p.m. til dusk. Hot dogs, family fun block party, a chance to dunk Mayor Jon LaBonte, face painting, ‘boot camp’ obstacle course, Marshall Popcorn Truck, flyovers by Civil Air Patrol, bounce house, live music by The Whiskey Militia.

SATURDAY, Aug. 8
AUBURN — 7th Annual Butterfly Release where people share memories of loved ones who have died. Names are read followed by release of hundreds of butterflies. Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice ceremony begins at 11 a.m., limited seating, parking available at Flagship Cinemas on Center Street, shuttles run from 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Lawn chairs and blankets welcome. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 9.
