LIVERMORE FALLS — The Planning Board will take up site plan review applications Wednesday for a Redneck Fun Park off Park Street and a Spruce Mountain Buying Club and Cooperative.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. May 16 at the Town Office.
Applicant Matthew Weeks of Greene is proposing to put in a mud run park on property owned by Martin C. Smith of Bedford, N.H.
The application states that 150 acres would be developed when done. The 221-acre property is listed for sale for $109,000 by Leavitt-Whittemore Reality Group LLC of Livermore Falls. That listing is attached to the site plan application.
According to the directions listed, the property is on Route 133/Park Street. After the Karn Road, the property right of way is on the left between the fifth and sixth houses.
According to Weeks’ application, the project would begin with mud runs. The park would open at 9 a.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with festivities starting at 10 a.m. The runs would go most of the day but not into the night. The project would eventually include food and expansion of the area to watch events.
Weeks wrote that he expects to have eight employees to start and around 50 when done. Sewage disposal would be handled by outhouses. Water supply is proposed to be a drilled well with a solar pump.
The number of parking spaces in the existing field is about 5,000, the application states.
In describing how the landscaping would be and how it would fit in with the neighborhood, Weeks wrote that in the first developing area, he would level the open fields, then put material down so no one would get stuck. In the mudding area, he would chop down the trees and remove stumps.
The second half of the developing area would take more prepping, the application states.
There is a road that already goes straight into the property and would allow for emergency vehicles to access the property, Weeks wrote.
He plans to make a small pond on the property, 20 feet in diameter and 2 to 3 feet deep.
Weeks was unavailable for comment Tuesday on whether the park would be seasonal or year-round.
The other proposal is for the Spruce Mountain Buying Club and Cooperative to open a small business incubator on June 1 in space in the Bank Building on Main Street.
The incubator would consist of six offices for rent to new small businesses or local growing businesses.
The cooperative would consist of offices and, eventually, a licensed community kitchen, in which member-owners of the cooperative can rent at a low cost, according to a news release.
The cooperative would also offer classes in the fall on business startups, business growth, financing and exiting. There would be courses in social media, Internet advertising and general advertising. There would also be classes for farmers and value-added producers.
Planning Board member Robin Beck is the coordinator of the Buying Club and Cooperative.
