Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s misapplication of the faith she claims to uphold ought not surprise anyone. The Bible says God created mankind “in his own image.” But many alleged conservatives invert that. They create the deity in their image, a God who thinks and acts like them, who bears their limitations and biases, their solipsism and illogicality, their mendacity and abiding fear.

Anne Kemper: Senate candidate Rotundo offers sensible, fair leadership
I strongly urge voters to support Peggy Rotundo, who is running for the Lewiston State Senate seat (District 21) formerly held by Nate Libby. We are very lucky to have such an able woman running for this position in our community. Peggy listens. She hears what people are saying who have many different points of […]
Nelson Baillargeon: Sunday hunting ban should stand
I write in reference to the right-to-food amendment that passed last November. I thought the amendment was meant to allow people to grow their own food, be it gardens or livestock, where it was feasible in areas that might deny that through ordinances. Now I see that some hunters are suing the state due to […]
Michael Boom: Isolate ‘a disgraced and fallen’ Russia
Blind devotion to a lost cause is a recipe for disaster. What is going on now in real time in Russia is proof that lunacy is in charge of blind devotees. The thing that scares me, and should scare all of us, is that a lunatic has the codes that could unleash Armageddon. If human […]

It’s not enough for streaming services to collect X dollars a month from subscribers. They have to deliver something in return.
Cal Thomas: Ignorance and apathy
What accounts for this vast disparity between perception and reality? It can only be the news and entertainment media and what they choose to highlight, as well as the bias they bring to subjects and issues they seek to promote, denigrate, or ignore.
Laura Mitchell: We all have a role to play in supporting affordable housing so Maine can thrive
Residents can support development and zone changes in their community for affordable housing development. Businesses can invest in housing for their workforce. Philanthropists can consider opportunities for retrofitting homes for seniors, supporting volunteer driven home development, and other unique opportunities.
Jenny Simmler: LD 1539 — Finding hope in heartache, my infertility story and advocacy for fertility care in Maine
Maine should join other New England states in providing greater access to fertility care. Infertility is a medical condition. Having wealth should not be the deciding factor on who has access to that medical treatment.
Rich Lowry: Don’t weaponize the 14th Amendment
Consider the case of Marjorie Taylor Greene, the bomb-throwing Georgia congresswoman. Outrageously, she recently had to testify in a proceeding to determine whether she ran afoul Section 3 and therefore should be struck from the ballot.
