Masked man carrying hatchet bangs on door of Windham home

He fled into a wooded area after the homeowner’s German shepherd lunged at the door, police say.

Erik Matthews, 32, was hit by a car in Windham on July 20, a few days after he received a summons for animal cruelty. He died Sunday.
