LEWISTON – Swimmer Emily Lewandowski of Lewiston broke the Maine YMCA state record in the 13-14 division of the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:16:13 in a meet at Bath. The previous mark was 2:17.96.

Lewandowski, 14, who swims for the Twin Cities Swim Team of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA/YWCA under coach Tom Manduca, capped off an exceptional day of swimming for the team. A total of 14 of 20 members logged best times. Seven beat their best marks by more than 4 seconds. They were Alexander Miles, 8; Alex Munsell, 10; Jessica Stocker, 13; Bryan Bergeron, 16; Allison Cary, 10; and Brett Delawater, 10.

The TCST Sea Lions were set to compete in last weekend’s YMCA State Championship Meet at Orono.
