Jerry Caron: ‘Enough is enough,’ time to ban high-capacity guns
Well, U.S. Rep. Jared Golden just lost two votes from this household due to his position on not banning high-capacity guns. Enough is enough. This doesn’t mean that his opponent will get our votes either. He won’t. Sad to say, but when will this insanity stop if nothing is ever done? There. I had to […]

Sgt. Jason Moore: Brother Down: Lifesaving act continues to pay dividends decades later
I was left alone in that parking lot with Chad’s empty cruiser and the red Firebird he had stopped. If asked how long I remained there I would swear that it had been several hours, when in actuality it was probably 20 minutes. Looking back, those minutes were some of the longest in my life.

Rich Lowry: The Kamala Harris problem
Kamala Harris is the single best argument for Democrats trying to prop up Joe Biden no matter what. She has been a disaster as vice president, even as she’s done nothing particularly noteworthy either good or bad. She’s simply a political black hole, whose abysmal ratings reflect not just Biden’s troubles but her own profound, inherent flaws as a political figure.

Everybody plays the fool.

David Oshansky: Influx of refugees can be tough on already-stressed cities
In Lewiston in 2002, Mayor Larry Raymond was facing increasing financial problems within his city due to the unexpected influx of refugees. Raymond asked the Somalis to “reduce the stress on our limited finances” and stop moving to his city. Raymond was then branded as a racist. In Manchester, New Hampshire, in 2011, Mayor […]

Norm Gellatly: Exploring conditions that could lead to mass shootings
Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio very recently expressed, publicly anyway, a general unawareness of why mass shootings continue to happen. Like most complicated matters, and this is clearly one, I think there are several contributing factors that may induce a male, often young, to become so anti-social that he kills fellow human beings. In brief, […]
