The oppressive heat over the weekend sent thousands to the beach, but according to meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Gray, the temperatures did not break any records.

Son charged in splitting maul attack in Harrison
A 49-year old Harrison woman was taken to Maine Medical Center Friday evening with stab wounds and her son was charged in the attack, according to Maine State Police.
