Dorothy Peters: Vote for strength of character
I would like to endorse Dave Duguay for commissioner in Oxford County. I have known Dave for 40 years and I can tell everyone that he is a tireless worker. Dave retired as a store manager. In every store, his community service skills were clearly displayed. If he could benefit any need or group, Dave […]

Leslie Hill: Cloutier is an effective leader
In working with Kristen Cloutier at our mutual workplace and as she represented my district on the Lewiston City Council, I observed her listening attentively, initiating thoughtful solutions to significant problems, and fairly advocating proposals to build a sustainable future for all community members. As a Lewiston city councilor, Kristen supported numerous redevelopment projects with […]

Philip Keith: So sad to see the blame game
It is sad to see Sen. Collins buying into President Trump’s election-scam of blaming the Democrats for refusing to roll over and give up on protecting the American people in the face of the impending economic catastrophe we face at the end of the expired assistance agreement. She calls it blackmail when her opponents commit […]

Roland Morin: Maine doesn’t need a Trump clone
Paul LePage should go back to Florida and stay there. We don’t need a clone of Trump in Maine. Gov. Janet Mills and Dr. Nirav Shah are doing a good job, and if LePage were still governor we would have more corona cases and deaths. Roland Morin, Livermore

Linda Flagg: CMP corridor is bad for Maine
Hydro-Quebec is a Crown Corporation owned exclusively by the Province of Quebec. Hydro-Quebec stands to make $12.4 billion in profits off of the proposed CMP corridor project by rerouting power they already sell to the Northeast on existing power lines, and charging Massachusetts more for it. Hydro-Quebec will return much of its profit from this […]

Linda-Lee Desmarais: Many questions for our schools
When we heard the term “social distancing” as one of the solutions to COVID-19, my daughter, a Florida kindergarten teacher, asked “How will I be able to lead my class to lunch or PE and keep them six feet apart?” My reply to her went something like this: “Now is the time to call upon […]

Rudolph Ziehm: GOP can’t win with present platform
I wonder if President Trump cheats at golf? I think our historic president would only cheat if he got the chance. Florida has election tampering issues. Trump says he wants to count their mail-in ballots. Them only. Reality Winner is in jail for revealing Russian attempts to tamper with voting machines in states Trump won […]

Cal Thomas: Trump is right about mail-in ballots
Many Democrats claim the fear over mail-in ballots is misplaced, but the evidence proves otherwise and in close elections, especially presidential elections, a few votes either way in key states can decide the winner.
